I never cease to be amazed by the brazen presumption of these religious merchants of dying and misery! And it is dying that they are selling, not life. They make no distinction between one way of dying and another. And yet it is well known that people with different diseases have very different experiences during the process of dying — dying takes very different trajectories. Some die in seconds. For some it is a lingering process of painful decay, and the distressing indignity of the breakdown of the body and its functions. But according to the churches, the Roman Catholic Church in the van, everyone is sentenced to death in the way that God determines.
